JAMES SOUTHWELL
About James

James Southwell grew up in the small NSW country town of Bowning where he still lives today. He always had a love for Guitar and the Blues. His early childhood hero's were Phil Manning, Kevin Borich and Geoff Achison.

He was always surrounded by Australia's top Musicians as his father Tony ran a music promotion business. James got his first guitar as a Xmas present from his father ans his uncle Rick when he was 7.

He didn't get serious about playing it until he had the opportunity to play with KEVIN BORICH & PHIL MANNING when he was 11, it was during this experience he realized what he wanted to do. PLAY GUITAR! James has not stopped playing since that night.

During the last part of year 12 in 2005 James decided that it was time to leave school and start playing Guitar for a living. He asked Kevin Borich if he would produce his first album (DARK ANGEL).
So in December of 2005 James went to Kevin's studio in QLD to record with Mark Kennedy on Drums & Harry Brus on Bass, together with Kevin's help they recorded a mix of new original material and Covers.

In May 2006 DARK ANGEL was released by MGM. With his new album in hand and his first touring band of Matt Perin on Drums & Jason Brewer on Bass  he hit the road on a 76 show National Tour.

JSB has continued to grow and tour over the past 4 years an has now played well over 450 show plus many festival dates.

When James isn't touring he spends all of his spare time with Family and Friends, he has one brother (Craig) and four sisters (Natalie, Kate, Shelby & Daytona). James loves water skiing and riding his Honda CRF 450 R every chance he gets.
